Privacy Policy for Ascent
Last Updated: July 21, 2026
Introduction
Ascent ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and when it is shared.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Goal and habit data
- Journal entries (morning intentions and evening reviews)
- App settings and preferences
- Text and context used by AI-powered features, which may include goals, habits, tasks, reminders, and progress information
- Account information, only if you create an optional account: your email address and a sign-in identifier from Apple, Google, or email verification
Automatically Collected Information
- Limited product-interaction signals used to understand onboarding and retention: whether onboarding steps were reached, and whether the app, any habit, a curriculum task, or a two-minute version was used on a local calendar day
- Setup choices such as whether you confirmed or skipped widget setup or Screen Time setup
- Basic app context: platform, app/runtime version, event time, local calendar date, and time-zone offset
- A random analytics-install identifier that is separate from your Ascent account, RevenueCat customer, and advertising identifiers; our server stores only a cryptographic hash of this identifier
- Screen Time data, only if you grant Screen Time permission
Usage analytics never includes habit names or IDs, goals, task or reminder text, journal content, selected apps, Screen Time totals, email addresses, account IDs, advertising IDs, or free-form event text. We do not use analytics for cross-app tracking or advertising.
AI Data Sharing (Third-Party Providers)
Ascent includes optional AI-powered features. When you choose to use one, Ascent sends the information needed for that request through its backend to an AI provider.
Depending on the feature, the app may send:
- Your request text or selected task
- Goal text
- Habit names and completion context
- Streak and motivation battery context used to generate responses
Data is sent to one of these providers:
How We Use Information
- Provide app functionality (habits, progress, reminders)
- Generate AI-assisted curriculum and two-minute action suggestions
- Calculate motivation battery when Screen Time permission is granted
- Measure aggregate onboarding completion, feature usage, and day-based retention so we can improve the product
- Improve reliability and performance
Optional Accounts
No account is required for core app usage. You may optionally create an account to recover your subscription across devices, using Sign in with Apple, Google sign-in, or a one-time email code.
If you create an account, we store with our authentication provider (Supabase):
- Your email address
- A unique account identifier and which sign-in method you used
Your account identifier is also shared with RevenueCat so your subscription follows your account. Your habits, goals, journal entries, and Screen Time data are NOT uploaded to your account — they remain on your device.
Account deletion: you can permanently delete your account at any time in Settings > Account > Delete Account. This removes your email and identifiers from our authentication provider. You can also simply sign out; the app keeps working without an account.
Data Storage
- Most app data is stored locally on your device
- Sensitive local secrets are stored in secure device storage
- No account is required for core app usage; accounts are optional (see "Optional Accounts")
- Raw pseudonymous product-interaction events are stored for no more than 90 days and then automatically deleted
- Analytics dashboards contain aggregate counts and do not expose individual installation records
Third-Party Services
AI Providers
RevenueCat
Used for subscription processing. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Supabase
Used for optional account authentication (Sign in with Apple, Google, or email code). Stores your email address and account identifier only. Supabase Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare
Used to operate Ascent's backend and first-party analytics database. Analytics is not sent to an advertising or third-party product-analytics platform. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Apple Services
- Screen Time APIs (with permission)
- WidgetKit
- Notifications
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only as needed to operate features:
- AI providers to process requests for optional AI-powered features
- RevenueCat for subscription processing and, if you sign in, linking your subscription to your account
- Supabase for optional account authentication
- Cloudflare to operate the backend and store the limited pseudonymous usage events described above
- Apple services for required platform functionality
Your Controls
- Turn off Settings > Data & Privacy > Share Anonymous Usage at any time. Collection stops immediately and Ascent requests deletion of the analytics rows associated with that installation; if offline, the deletion request is kept and retried later
- Avoid third-party AI processing by not using optional AI-powered features
- Revoke Screen Time permission in iOS Settings
- Disable notifications in iOS Settings or in-app settings
- Reset all app data in app settings; this also rotates the separate analytics identifier and requests deletion of its server-side rows
- Sign out of your optional account, or permanently delete it, in Settings > Account
